UK first for Carveries launched by multiple award winning Ye Olde Punch Bowl Inn, Shropshire

Last night saw the launch of a first for the UK, at a ‘star’ studded event held at Bridgnorths’ much Loved Punch Bowl Inn, located in Shropshire.

Following months of planning the eagerly anticipated AGA Carvery was opened by Shropshire’s own TV personality ‘Boycie’ who is also an AGA customer and further regular at The Punch Bowl. The Award Winning Carvery was enjoyed by over 200 invited guests, who were also treated to welcome glass of fizz, a live Jazz band, and even an appearance by Ollie Hughes whose Tributes to Robbie Williams are often held at the Punch Bowl’s sell out tribute nights.

Speeches by AGA Chief Executive William McGrath, (pictured with Adam Giles and John Challis) who praised owner Adam Giles’ innovation and creativity and likened him to one of the early inventors of the AGA during the industrial revolution, he was joined by John Challis who plays Boycie in the hit TV series Only Fools And Horses, as well as the Shropshire based series The Green Green Grass. Challis, who is also an AGA owner commented “I first heard of this initiative at The Punch Bowl Inn, Bridgnorth last year on Twitter – it sounded intriguing and when I was asked if I would like to support Adam and the team on the night, I was delighted – being an AGA owner myself I know how important it is to any household, including being the centre my own home where my wife cooks some wonderful meals. Tonight was a wonderful evening hosted by the Punch Bowl the AGA looked amazing, and the Carvery was the best I have tasted, I will certainly be back”

Adam Giles comments “We’re so excited about this partnership with AGA, it’s been a long time in the planning since I dreamt up the concept around 10 years ago. It’s a dream come true. You could say its been a labour of love in recent months getting it all together. AGA and other local companies have been hugely supportive, as well as our regulars who are really very excited about this concept, and tonight really was the icing on the cake – or should I say the gravy on the carvery!”

‘Ye Olde Punch Bowl Inn’ located just outside Bridgnorth in Shropshire recently announced the unique partnership with Telford based AGA, manufacturers of iconic cookers, to create a dining concept like no other in the UK.

AGA cookers who have been manufacturing their iconic cookers in Shropshire since 1929 have become the ‘must have’ for many a domestic cook, and fashionistas, as well as more professional bakers and chefs around the UK and across the World.

Adam Adds “I was brought up with an AGA cooker at my family home in Worcestershire and it was always the focal point of our activities. I come from a family of pub owners and passionate cooks and we would spend hours in the kitchen, creating new dishes and tasting what we had made.”

James Day of Shropshire based Leisure Marketing LTD, hospitality marketing specialist who helped launch the joint initiative added “This concept is very exciting for the hospitality industry – both Adam’s vision, supported by AGA’s heritage are the ideal recipe for future success, we wish them both all the best success for the future”

Awards – 2014 is set to be another bumper year for Ye Olde Punch Bowl Inn, with a string of National Awards in 2013 for customer services, Best Free House Pub, and as one of the regions top Wedding venues, and more recently a prestigious Inn of The Year award by Travel Guide Les Routier.
