Fashionably British brasserie opens its doors at Selfridges Birmingham

Balcony Restaurant at Selfridges Birmingham

Balcony Restaurant at Selfridges Birmingham

Birmingham welcomed an exciting addition to its dining scene when The Balcony opened at Selfridges last month (23rd November)

Located in the iconic Bullring building, The Balcony looks to provide a stylish menu for the city’s fashionistas, serving quirky food and drinks in a contemporary environment. Skinny cocktails, afternoon tea and plant pot cakes are among the items on the menu, offering Birmingham’s shoppers and visitors an indulgent and unique experience.

The Balcony will be run by Searcys, the restaurant and bar operator famed for its Champagne Bars, St Pancras Grand Brasserie, and private members club at the top of the Gherkin.

The 120-cover restaurant also features a stylish Moet & Chandon Rosé Champagne Bar, serving the full range from the world’s number one Champagne house. In addition to Champagnes, the bar has an impressive selection of cocktails including a special section of ‘Skinny’ lower-calorie cocktails. The cocktails feature in a happy hour, every day from 5pm to 7pm.

The menu offers everything from warming comfort food to fresh salads, with feature dishes including salmon fishcakes with cucumber and lemon mayonnaise, Searcys aged Lake District cheeseburger with fries and a ‘Snickerbockerglory’.

The restaurant also hopes to become renowned for its Champagne Afternoon Tea, which pairs Moet Rosé with the restaurant’s signature ‘Afternoon Picnic Tea’. The tea has been created by award-winning pastry chef John Grantham, and features quirky cakes and house-made scones.

General Manager, Alice Weryk: “Our opening weekend was hugely successful, it’s great to see the city’s appetite for something a little different. The menu we’ve put together aims to express a sense of fun which we believe to be unique to Birmingham’s restaurant scene. Selfridges is known for its cutting-edge, bold and stylish personality, and The Balcony aims to reflect this. We can’t wait to see what the city’s diners think of what will be a memorable dining experience.”

Reservations are now being taken at the Balcony’s website: www.thebalcony.co.uk
