Monarch Aircraft Engineering (MAEL), the award-winning independent aircraft maintenance provider and a division of The Monarch Group, recently launched its new 110,000 sq. ft state-of-the-art maintenance facility, at Birmingham Airport, and was supported by the team who created the Air Traffic Control Tower Pop-up Restaurant in 2012.

Now one of the largest state-of-the-art maintenance facilities in Europe at 110,000 sq. ft . The new facility can accommodate almost every aircraft type in its two bays and is one of the first to have the capacity for Boeing 787 Dreamliner maintenance, with sufficient capacity for other wide body aircraft, such as the Boeing 747, 777 and Airbus A350. The building covers approximately 2.5 acres of land as is large enough to accommodate two Boeing 777-300ER aircraft or ten narrow-body aircraft and will contain a number of component-repair and back shops. The investment will initially create 150 new jobs, anticipated to grow to 300, including apprentices, and is further testament to the growth and innovation of the region on the World market.

Staffordshire based events management company Corporate Occasions Ltd won the contract to organise the prestigious official opening following the success of their ‘Pop-up Restaurant’ held in the new air traffic control tower facility last year – Hailed a great PR success by the airport gaining National news coverage, they were then approached by Monarch to host this prestigious event, due to Corporate Occasions Ltd proven reputation for quality service, innovation in ideas and attention to detail.

Director of Corporate Occasions Ltd of Lichfield, Geoffrey Bartlett (pictured with Michelle Wiles, Marketing & PR Executive of Monarch Aircraft Engineering Ltd) commented “The airport control tower Pop-up restaurant was great fun for us to create and host, and a unique experience for the lucky people who were able to attend. We all love a challenge at Corporate Occasions, hosting high quality events and parties across the UK, including theming some of the largest buildings in the UK, large enough to accommodate full sized indoor football pitches and even a circus big top, but to officially open one of Europe’s latest aircraft hangar was something new – we rose to the challenge and I am proud to say my team delivered on the day.” Corporate Occasions Ltd created the hospitality area including stage & backdrop and Monarch purple carpet area where guests were provided with lunch including a Birmingham Balti & specially created Cadburys Chocolate Dessert to complement Birmingham.

Michelle Wiles added, “We really want to say a big thank you to Corporate Occasions Ltd. We thoroughly enjoyed working on this project and Corporate Occasions made it even more special. The response we have received has been somewhat overwhelming! The feedback was fantastic and everyone who attended the day said the event was spectacular and we put on a show that was worthy of how we (MAEL) should be perceived.”
