One of the UK’s most celebrated restaurant operators has taken centre stage in Birmingham with the opening of the Centenary Bar & Brasserie at The REP on Centenary Square this month.

Searcys, which is the company behind some of the UK’s most iconic restaurants and bars including the Gherkin, St Pancras Grand, the Pump Room in Bath and Searcys Champagne Bars, has added to its repertoire as the Birmingham Repertory Theatre reaffirms its position as one of Birmingham’s most prominent attractions, following a two and a half year refurbishment.

Visitors to the Centenary Bar & Restaurant can enjoy a range of tempting food and drink menus along with excellent service in an impressive, welcoming, environment. As well as the 90-cover restaurant and onsite café and bars, there is also a large external terrace to watch the world go by. The kitchen is being headed up by Michelin starred chef Paul Welburn, formerly head chef at Gary Rhodes’ flagship restaurant in London.

The Brasserie, which overlooks Centenary Square, is open every day from 11am through to evening dining and late night snacks. It serves a range of bistro-style dishes, including a specially priced express menu with two courses, ideal for pre-theatre dining. All menus use ingredients sourced from British artisan suppliers and diners can expect simple brasserie food with a modern take on traditional dishes. As you would expect, there is also a great value two course pre-theatre menu for £14.00.

The Café offers a more relaxed affair serving an all-day range of coffees, sandwiches and cakes, well-priced wines, charcuterie boards and other bar snacks. Craft beers and classic cocktails are also available for after-work drinks and post-theatre night caps.

Terry Davies, Searcys General Manager at The REP, comments: “We are very excited to be a part of the fantastic redevelopment of the iconic Birmingham Repertory Theatre and the new Birmingham Library. The Centenary Brasserie has an incredible location in the heart of the City and we look forward to showcasing some fantastic local food producers.

“The theatre is well-known throughout Britain for its innovative and original programming. We hope to add to this iconic status by providing the highest quality gourmet food offering.”

Stuart Rogers, Executive Director at The REP comments: “Searcys is known for its fantastic quality and service, so visitors to The REP can expect not only a wonderful new theatre but also a memorable dining experience.”
