Turners Restaurant in Birmingham crowned as The Good Food Guide Readers’ Restaurant of the Year for the Midlands

Turners Restaurant in Birmingham has today been crowned The Good Food Guide Readers’ Restaurant of the Year for the Midlands.

The Good Food Guide Readers’ Restaurant of the Year awards gauge the restaurants, pubs and cafés from around the UK where people love to go when eating out. Becoming one of the regional winners in the awards is a prestigious accolade for Turners Restaurant as the awards are based on nominations from tens of thousands members of the public who support their favourite local eateries.

This year, an impressive 39,000 people submitted nominations for their favourite restaurants in the awards. The Good Food Guide verifies all the nominations before picking ten regional winners who represent some of the best dining experiences to be had around the country.

To qualify for the awards, aimed at championing local neighbourhood eateries, restaurants needed to be independently run and offer regional or local produce where possible. Turners Restaurant fought off stiff competition from others in the Midlands to scoop the win for the region.

Chef patron Richard Turner was thrilled to win the award, commenting: ‘We are delighted that our customers voted for Turners as their favourite restaurant in the region, and honoured that such a small neighbourhood restaurant as ours, located in leafy Harborne on the outskirts of Birmingham, can achieve this national recognition from The Good Food Guide.’

Elizabeth Carter, Consultant Editor of The Good Food Guide, added: ‘Turners Restaurant has an instinctive feel for food combined with a refreshing down-to-earth approach which has meant this glossy fine-dining restaurant has been a huge hit with The Good Food Guide readers. Richard Turner offers cooking for a special occasion without being stuffy and is a worthy winner of our Readers’ Restaurant of the Year for the Midlands.’

Turners Restaurant is one of ten regional winners from around the UK, one of whom will go on to be named as the overall The Good Food Guide Readers’ Restaurant of the Year 2014. The winner of this revered award will be announced at a ceremony in central London on 19 th June 2013.
