Michelin Chef Adam Stokes to Open in Birmingham City Centre

Adam Stokes, head chef at Michelin-starred Glenapp Castle Relais & Chateaux in Scotland, is starting his first restaurant in Birmingham city centre.

Adam, who achieved his first Michelin Star and 4 AA Rosettes at Glenapp in 2011, will be starting a 25-seat fine dining pop-up restaurant in March 2013. Adam previously spent seven years at Hambleton Hall in Rutland.

His eponymous restaurant will serve modern inventive British food that will have fresh identity on the Birmingham dining scene. Along with joint patron wife Natasha, who will manage the front of house, the restaurant will serve varying tasting menus showcasing Adam’s style.

“After five years spent developing my own niche, it was time to return to the midlands and start my own restaurant. I have a very loyal and enthusiastic team who will be relocating to Birmingham to continue with the culinary journey.”
During the 18month pop-up, the husband and wife led team will be designing a 60-seat restaurant, also in Birmingham city centre, site details to be released during 2013.

“I will create a fine dining restaurant where guests will feel relaxed and comfortable in the contemporary interior. Once completed the larger restaurant will have an open-to-view kitchen and dining kitchen bar. There will be a casual transition from kitchen to restaurant: to sit alongside the open and honest style of the cuisine. Future plans include an extensive wine cellar and Food Development Area.”

Following the opening of  ‘adam’s ’ pop-up restaurant on Bennetts Hill in Spring next year the couple are set to move round the corner to the larger location in 2014. The arrival of Adam will hot up the City competition, alongside Chefs Glynn Purnell, Andreas Antona, Luke Tipping, Adam Bennett and Richard Turner.
