Celebrity Chef Buys Shropshire Cookery School

Marcus Bean

Shropshire-based celebrity chef Marcus Bean – best known for his frequent appearances on ITV’s This Morning – has bought a cookery school and bed and breakfast.

Marcus and his wife, Jenny Lou, have bought the Brompton Cookery School, which is located in picturesque countryside at Atcham, on the National Trust’s Attingham Estate.

The cookery school was developed by businesswoman Philippa Home, who developed the centre four years ago but is relocating.

Mr Bean, who also owns The New Inn, at Baschurch, said he was delighted with the acquisition and was looking forward to hosting regular courses. He said: “We’re really pleased and are looking forward to welcoming people who want to improve their skills around the kitchen.”

Marcus has proved to be one of Brompton’s most popular demonstration chefs and has presented a number of courses to attendees.

His experience as a professional demonstration chef has also won him regular slots at food festivals around the UK.

Marcus and Jenny have bought a modern, fully functioning cookery school at Brompton and a delightful National Trust bed and breakfast farmhouse, which is set in extensive lawns and gardens just three miles from the Medieval town of Shrewsbury.

The house is a haven of peace, comfort and elegance. It has been beautifully decorated and refurbished throughout. The drawing room has sumptuous sofas and a wonderful log fire – the dining room a large elm refectory table with stunning oak floor boards. The bedrooms are light, airy, with gorgeous beds and fluffy white towels.
