Chamberlains Fish & Chip Restaurant amongst the best in the UK

Chamberlains Fish and Chip Shop, an up-market and family run establishment on the Birmingham/Sandwell border has made it through to the next stages of the prestigious National Fish & Chip Awards.

There are more than 10,500 Fish & Chip shops in the UK and Chamberlains has already made it into the top 50. Not only will Chamberlains be representing Birmingham, but it will also be representing the entire West Midlands as it is the only establishment to be shortlisted throughout the region.

As Chamberlains has a full dine in restaurant it has also made it through to the semi finals of the Best Fish & Chip Restaurant category, and will be pitched against Rick Stein’s restaurant in Padstow as well as two well-known Fish restaurants in Whitby.

Simon Shaw, co-owner at Chamberlains Fish & Chip Shop comments: “We opened 18 months ago and were delighted to win Best Newcomer to the Fish & Chip Industry so to get into the semi finals of the 2013 National Fish & Chip Awards is great news and a good pat on the back for our staff.” Comment ends.

Chamberlains has established itself as Birmingham’s premier Fish & Chip venue and boasts a 76 seat licensed restaurant, disabled access and free car parking. The menu is not just fish & chips; there are more than ten varieties of fish and sea food. Cod, Haddock and Plaice served with chips are obvious favourites but Scampi, Hake, Salmon, Sea Bass and even mussels served in cider from Holdens Brewery feature on the menu. There are also a range of starters, desserts and non fish main courses including award winning pies from Bowkett’s butchers of Oldbury.

The dining experience at Chamberlains is a real hit with locals and overseas visitors alike and has already featured in recent articles in German travel magazines. In fact, at the time of going to press, Trip Advisor ranks Chamberlains at number 17 out of 1250 restaurants in the West Midlands based on value for money, quality of food, service and atmosphere.

Simon Shaw, co-owner comments: “everyone loves Fish and Chips and people will travel miles for good quality, we serve ours like you get at the seaside in a light and crispy batter, served with homemade mushy peas and a pot of tea. It makes a real treat and we have regular customers who come to us every week. Birmingham is not normally associated with traditional Fish & Chips so it is great to be able to represent the city at the National Awards and be judged alongside the industries finest.”
