Birmingham’s Highest Tea Party Social Celebration of Great British Cuisine

Birmingham Airport Exclusive High tea Event by Gourmet-Life Dining Club

Guests were treated to a tea party with a difference. Held at one of the highest building in the region – at the rather unconventional ‘Birmingham International Airport Air traffic Control Tower Pop-up Restaurant.

Organised by Lifestyle Dining Club Gourmet-Life for their members and guests from the airport, and hosted by Geoff Bartlett of Events company Exclusive Occasions who had been awarded the contract to host this exclusive venue as a unique popup restaurant for just 20 nights – the fashionable way to enjoy exclusive cuisine in unique locations. The event was held on the 7th July 2012 – 7 years to the day that the London Games were announced, and it celebrated Great British Cuisine.

Organiser James Day, Director of Gourmet-Life – Midlands based Lifestyle dining club commented “This was a wonderful occasion, and a great excuse to celebrate the year of Great British cuisine in the Heart of England, for our dining club members, and invited guests from the airport staff, to sample this never to be repeated wonderful location – It really was an incredible, surreal experience, and there’s no better place to launch our afternoon tea packages for members – and celebrate dining experiences throughout the UK – a real high point of the 2012 events calendar so far – you could say the icing on the cake.”

Guests were treated to bone China tea sets, sourced from the region, serving the ‘Champagne of teas’ first flush Darjeeling from the rare Tea Company in London, alongside especially made High-tea cakes, sandwiches, jam and scones. Gourmet-life members were also treated to a glass of premium champagne or English fizz on arrival, to help enjoy the view of the international airport, and up to 5 counties surrounding the 100 foot, £10million tower, whilst enjoying talks by Broadcaster and wine writer for Gourmetlife Philippe Boucheron celebrating the 350th anniversary of High Teas coming to Britain.
Joint host Midlands based premier events company Exclusive Occasions LTD, whose Director Geoff Bartlett commented “We were very privileged to be awarded the contract to host these exclusive events in this pop up restaurant over twenty nights, culminating in this exclusive ‘High-tea’ – the venue is certainly unique, and every single invited guest was been speechless as to the location, the views, and the unique exclusive occasion that we have created for them. We look forward to working with Gourmet-life again on our next joint event, hosting the Ludlow Food Festival Chefs Table Restaurant pop-up restaurant, celebrating The regions finest chefs, and cuisine, 7th-9th September. We are now planning on how to top the highest tea party with this Pop-up restaurant in the historic Castle grounds – watch this space”
