Cote Restaurant Christmas Menu Launch Birmingham

Last week Côte Brasserie in The Mailbox hosted a Champagne and Canapés Christmas Tasting Night for fans of French food. We were lucky enough to be invited along to join the great and the good of Birmingham to enjoy the opportunity to sample some highlights of their Christmas menu over a nice cold glass of bubbly.

Dishes included vegetarian pissaldière, steak, calamari, foie gras, duck rillettes and a selection of mini desserts such as crème caramel and chocolate mousse.
It was a very well-attended event and the dishes I sampled included the steak, calamari, foie gras and chocolate mousse were all rather nice.
The staff at Cote are extremely pleasant and its canal-side location at the back of The Mailbox is as inviting in winter as it is in summer. The dishes were all as beautifully presented as when we visited to review earlier this year, and they were all hot (with the exception of the mousse!) which was a welcome surprise following my last visit where my major issue was with the luke-warm temperature.
The breadcrumbed squid sautéed in garlic, lemon and parsley with tartare sauce was lovely and peppery, the steak perfectly pink with a tasty peppercorn sauce, the terrine of duck foie gras on toasted brioche was light and full of flavour and the dark chocolate mousse rich and delicious. The quality of the ingredients is good and it’s not a bad place to go for a chain restaurant.
Cote are offering a complimentary Kir Royale on arrival and bottle of wine per four people for early Christmas bookings with Menu 1 or 2 if partying between 21 November and 4 December. Cote Birmingham’s Christmas Menus. Given a choice I’d probably go for Menu 2 and would say this could be an ideal option to please most of the office staff at a fairly reasonable price.
We were also given a bottle of Chateau de Poyet and some La Mortuacienne artisan lemonade to take home too – a nice touch, thanks.
