Success was toasted by the 20 lucky attendees of a recent dinner held at the newly refurbished De Montforts Restaurant in Offenham, Evesham. Hosts Celia Perrin and Chris Sweet were joined by food and wine writer Philippe Boucheron, who worked with Head Chef Jamie Barnett to create a gastronomic Journey of the Loire region of France.

The gourmet event was joined promoted by Gourmet Life – Lifestyle Dining Club, and eat-the-Midlands and the night was deemed a great success, as the local produce was served up, in French style, each course matched with a wine from Gloucestershire wine merchant Bennetts  Fine Wines. Gourmands travelled from far and wide including Nuneaton, Shropshire, and Surrey! LOIRE WINE DINNER, THURSDAY 15th SEPTEMBER

Chef Jamie Barnett created an outstanding four course menu of regional dishes.  Host for the evening was, wine writer and broadcaster Philippe Boucheron, who carefully chose matching wines from The Loire, Anjou, the Pay Nantaise and Touraine from Bennetts Fine Wines of Chipping Campden– some of them from old friends like the Mabileau family of St. Nicolas de Bourgeuil.

Following a sparking rosé reception with a leading Saumur pink fizz diners were seated sharing a beautifully laid table, dinner party fashion.  Philippe’s inter-course wine chat kept all amused about his favourite part of France.

EVENING MENU

Amuse of Bordain Noir, with pea Pure, and slow cooked local bacon

Followed by…River fish ‘Zander’ with Beurre Blanc Sauce

Pan Fried Breast of Duck, Boudin Blanc of Leg Chou-fleur gratinée & Pommes Château
