BBC Good Food Show ~ Miele Master Chef Day
Last week saw thousands of the regions foodies and keen gardeners visit the NEC BBC Good Food Show 2010, where they were treated to 100’s of stalls, serving innovative food creations, kitchen appliances, tasty creations from all over the world including olives from Spain, and Greece, artisan meats from Italy and Portugal, and of course, deep fried fish from Whitby!
Alongside the BBC Good Food was the ‘Home and Garden Show’ which offered horticultural specimens for those with more green, than sticky fingers.
Local food writers were treated to an afternoon as guests of ‘Miele Kitchen applicances’ who hosted the Master Chef Stage with Gregg Wallace, John Torode, and compared by TV presenter and producer Andy Peter’s who was a runner up in one of the previous TV Celebrity Finals.
The day was full on with early arrivals, then straight into the ‘Inventions test’ challenge where foodies were given 6 key ingredients, and 30 minutes to create a dish fit for Gregg and John to judge - No pressure then!
The ingredients were: Chicken breast, Bacon, blue cheese, vanilla pod, peas, fresh herbs, and honey, supported by pulses, and seasoning….what to look for the Master Chef Maiseters? My creation: Blue cheese stuffed chicken breast wrapped in bacon, and drizzled with Manukka honey - served with fresh minted peas, and fried spiced potatoes - not worthy of a win, but certainly worthy of keeping my head, whilst being watched by approx 300 critics on the TV screens! Well done all, and thank you to all the lucky ticket winners who came to see us on our Eat -the- Midlands Stand.
