Saffron in Oldbury has been named as the Midlands regional winner of The Good Food Guide Readers’ Restaurant of the Year Award.

The popular fine-dining Indian restaurant on Wolverhampton Road was put forward for its ‘innovative cuisine and fantastic service’ beating ‘Loves’ in Birmingham and ‘The Bluebell’ in Henley-in-Arden who were also regional finalists.

Limon Rahman and Aklasul Momin, Directors of Saffron Group, were delighted and said; “This is a tremendous accolade for our staff who work extremely hard to ensure our customers enjoy the best possible dining experience.”

More than 25,000 diners nominated* their favourite restaurants, pubs and cafés.

Judges were looking for independently-owned eateries that deliver excellent regional dishes and use local producers where possible.  In line with this year’s Which? Awards theme of ‘Who cares, wins’, they were also looking for impeccable customer service.

Elizabeth Carter, Consultant Editor, The Good Food Guide, said; “It’s so exciting to find culinary gems that go the extra mile for their customers and Saffron is no exception.  It’s a role model of its kind – an Indian restaurant that’s a cut above the rest, putting quality, well sourced ingredients to the fore.”

The 10 regional winners** will now go head to head to become the overall winner of The Good Food Guide Readers’ Restaurant of the Year at the Which? Awards*** on 19 May 2010.  Further information is available at www.which.co.uk/gfgaward .
